Increasing Support Costs and the Long Term Plan

During the years of plenty starting around 2002 until around 2007 we saw a dramatic increase in the number of computers/laptops in our school building. We also added Smart Boards and LCD projectors to many of our classrooms. Now in the down turn starting in 2008 and with our equipment getting older we have seen the costs to maintain this equipment soar. Student Devices

After years of not having an official policy about the use of student laptops, netbooks, and other network aware devices, FCPS is looking at developing a regulation about student use of these devices in schools and on schools networks. My high school, W.T. Woodson, has encouraged students to use their own devices, but this is not true at all our schools.
