Hey Kim,
It was fun to see so many folks at the VSTE meeting in SL last night. I had a fellow TRT ask me yeterday about setting up video conferencing for a hospitalized student. Skype is blocked in our district. Anybody else used anything that's s...
Saw your message about skype alternatives. Have you looked at http://www.dimdim.com? I haven't used it so can't really recomment it but it does look easy and it is free. It is more meeting oriented with whiteboards, desktop sharing, etc, but it may be worth a look,
Katie, try a meeting. We meet on Mondays at 8 PM Virginia time. Come early, join the VSTE group in world, and find your way to VSTE island. Send an IM to the VSTE group for help if you have trouble. It's not a game as much as it is social networking. Often events are instructional in nature. There are other educational groups. You could find something related to education to do there almost daily.

Katie, have you thought about trying Second Life? It's fun and you can meet educators from all over the world. In this 3D virtual world we collaborate and network while sitting in a cafe, in a treehouse at ISTE Island, at VSTE HQ, or on the deck of a beach house. Join us!
