NECC 2009

NECC 2009 had over 18,000 people attending, hundreds of sessions, ideas, resources and information shared. Please share any insights, ideas, resources, websites or reflections on what you learned from NECC. I think what I loved best was networking and meeting new people from all over the USA and Canada.

I also spent a lot of time around the SMART Booth and ITRT Pavilion. SMART Technologies now has SMART Notebook Math and the latest SMARTBoard allows 2 people to write on the board at the same ti… Continue

Want to know when any website is updated? Would you like to be informed of new technology, websites, tutorials or software you can use? Are you part of VSTE's Ning, Facebook or another social network? Here is an easy way to know when your favorite website or blog is updated. Through using RSS, one can get a short summary of when any web page is updated. A reader is needed in order to access RSS. I am going to go through the steps of setting up and using Igoogle reader. Kidspiration Templates made by Virginia teachers

Thanks to everyone for sharing their Kidspiration files on the ITRT Listserv. By sharing, we have now over 900 Kidspiration (Inspiration will open Kidspiration) templates and over 150 Library pictures geared for K-5 teachers to meet just about every SOL. Each of the files is labeled with k,1,2,3,4 or 5 before the name so it is easy to find the files for each grade level especially if you copy them to the Kidspiration folder. Some topics cover multiple grades so typically I put the file in the gr… Continue

Sure thing! It started with just a teacher or two asking for certain released tests to be put into the Turning Point format. Then it just took on a life of its own, and we ended up doing all of them. It's taken about a year and a half to get this completed, but I believe it is well worth it.

Sure! We have space for you. It's on April 6th at Nottoway High School from 8:30 to 12:00. (Refreshments from 8:30-9:00, presentation from 9:00-11:30) It will probably take you about 2 1/2 hours to get here though.... Would you be interested in presenting at one of our ITRT days in the Fall?

August 10 is the first day of school for teachers and we do this big "back to school" breakfast and skit for all school employees. What fun! I would love to attend or present at the SMART conference but at this point it doesn't look likely. On another note, Region 8 has an ITRT day two or three times a year and our presentation for April is from a Google Specialist. I'll let you know of any new ideas that we get from her. Have a great week!

Hey Obe,
I am a friend of your Aunt Joyce and am researching Nings so she told me about yours. If you have any friends who have successfully used NIngs in their classrooms, could you send me a link? I'm the author of "teaching the story: Fiction Writing in Grades 4-8" and the second edition added 15 technology mini-lessons written by a tech facilitator who used to work in Rockingham, NC. Have enjoyed looking around your site. thanks, Carol Baldwin (cbaldwin6@carolina.rr.com)

Hi Obe,

At the Mid-Atlantic SMART Board Conference, you mentioned templates you're collecting. I believe this is a Google Search that you created. Could you tell me how to access that, please?

Thank you,
Jeanne
