Technology Inventory

Hi! I am an undergraduate Education major, and I am currently enrolled in a Technology Foundations class. For this class, we were asked to complete a technology inventory for the schools where we are conducting our practicum teaching. After discovering the technology resources that are available at my school and for my school district, I had a few questions. My science practicum teacher uses the BrainPop website to begin many of her science lessons. It seems like a good resource and the videos a… Continue

Kidspiration!

Hi! I am majoring in Elementary Education, and I have been conducting my practicum teaching in a fifth grade classroom this semester. Testing Students!

Hi! I just posted a blog about homework in the classroom, but I actually have another topic that I would like to discuss: Testing! I have been completing my practicum teaching for only a few weeks now, but I have already observed my students taking a math test. My cooperating teacher allows the students to use a folder that defines math concepts that they are learning throughout the year to assist them during all of their tests. I thought that this take on testing is not a very common one. I can… Continue

Homework in the Classroom

Hi! I am an undergraduate student completing my practicum teaching this semester. I just wanted to start a conversation about the role of homework in today's classrooms. I talked with my cooperating teacher about his use of homework in the classroom, and he actually uses it very minimally. I can remember being bombarded with math problems and other homework assignments, even in the upper grades of elementary school. My cooperating teacher takes a different approach on this idea of homework. Inst… Continue
