During the years of plenty starting around 2002 until around 2007 we saw a dramatic increase in the number of computers/laptops in our school building. We also added Smart Boards and LCD projectors to many of our classrooms. Now in the down turn starting in 2008 and with our equipment getting older we have seen the costs to maintain this equipment soar. LCD projector bulbs cost us $250, a broken laptop can cost $300 dollars to repair if you can find the parts, and batteries for laptops and netbo…

After years of not having an official policy about the use of student laptops, netbooks, and other network aware devices, FCPS is looking at developing a regulation about student use of these devices in schools and on schools networks. My high school, W.T. Woodson, has encouraged students to use their own devices, but this is not true at all our schools. Right now we usually have anywhere from 30-100 student devices on our wireless network. Does anyone have any guidelines or experiences with all…

Technically, I am going to VSTE, but the excitement is still the same!
A cross state road trip, combining technology and education, may not sound fun to everyone, but I am really looking forward to it. I have been going over my packing list, but so far I can only think about the technology I need to bring with me. No way can I forget my backup to the backup laptop, or my cell phone recharger cable! That stuff is important. I can swing by Walmart and get fresh underwear and they always give you…

Coursework writing is really not a peanut as I took it in the beginning when I was assigned a college coursework. It was really tough to find coursework help, even online coursework help. But you know internet is a magical world, sooner or later you come to the right place. So did I when I started searching online coursework help. I've been surfing the net when one article capture my attention. This is one of the latest software that some schools are using. It is called Owl & Mouse - it provides good, free educational software and web activities for students. I mentioned Owl & Mouse's map puzzles in a blog post last year.
