Why Technology in Education Rocks in Virginia

Virginia Society for Technology in Education (VSTE)

NECC 2009 had over 18,000 people attending, hundreds of sessions, ideas, resources and information shared. Please share any insights, ideas, resources, websites or reflections on what you learned from NECC. I think what I loved best was networking and meeting new people from all over the USA and Canada.

I also spent a lot of time around the SMART Booth and ITRT Pavilion. SMART Technologies now has SMART Notebook Math and the latest SMARTBoard allows 2 people to write on the board at the same time. You can download and view the SMART Technologies presentations including mine at http://www.necc2008.org/group/smarttechnologies

The ITRT Pavilion was busy with presentations and people sharing ideas. Virginia is one of the few states that have ITRTs. Educators said Virginia is known for:
A. Having more technology in the schools than other states
B. Virginia ITRTs have been a valuable asset to professional development in helping teachers integrate technology.
C. Visitors asked a lot of questions about how Virginia's ITRT Program is implemented in the different school divsions. Great discussions were had!
