Why Technology in Education Rocks in Virginia

Virginia Society for Technology in Education (VSTE)

This is going to be an incredible SMARTBoard conference you don't want to miss! We have over 30 outstanding presenters. Two presenters are even traveling all the way from Illinois: James Hollis, author of Teachers Love SMARTBoards blog (http://smartboards.typepad.com/) and Matt Granger, creator of this SMARTBoard Revolution Ning (http://smartboardrevolution.ning.com/). In addition, everyone who attends has a chance of going home with a SMARTBoard or Senteo clickers or SMART Document camera. Register and join in the fun!

The Shenandoah Valley Technology Consortium, SMART Technologies, and RCPS are sponsoring a SMART Users Conference on August 10, 2009 at Cub Run Elementary School. There will be over 30 SMARTBoard presentations you can pick from throughout the day. Some will be for novices and others for more experienced SMARTBoard users. Presenters include many teachers and ITRTs throughout Virginia including several from surrounding states. The emphasis will be on integrating the SMARTBoard into instruction. Lots more information is available at this website:

Only the first 400 registrations get to attend. Register at:

OMG! I'm going to be at a Chesapeake Bay Foundation week-long workshop and will miss this conference, but wanted to encourage everyone to attend! These are great resources and would love to see a Portal we could access all these great sites, including RCPS and Harvey Almarode. I keep finding new ones every day. Like this one from Wichita Schools http://technology.usd259.org/resources/whiteboards/smart-lessons/elementary_lessons.html. Keep 'em comin'! This makes it so easy to get my teachers excited about using the SmartBoard!

Another favorite presenter at this conference is Harvey Almarode. He has incredible interactive Math Notebook files he freely shares online. Check out his website at http://almarolh.googlepages.com/
